Captain Kendacy Barnes

Captain Kendacy Barnes

Captain Kendacy Barnes is a proud member of the Messengers of Light session who loves the Lord. She is the wife of Major Dwayne Barnes and Mother of her adorable daughter, Celine. As a child, Captain Barnes dreamed of becoming a schoolteacher. So, upon graduating High School, she entered the teaching profession and later pursued a degree in the education field. In addition to education, Captain Barnes thoroughly enjoys full time ministry; especially ministry geared towards youths & children, women, and mission. She believes that as a young person, there is no better way, no better time, and no better place, to live life than living it in devoted service to God. One of the greatest gift a person can give to God, is the gift of their youth. In her spare time, Captain Barnes enjoys, writing, hiking, and Art. Her life’s motto is, “Love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength. In everything, trust Him with your life”.

Brittany Parks

Children's Ministries Outreach Coordinator

Brittany Parks

I love the Lord and I strive to walk in kindness; I enjoy encouraging and loving on people. Laughing, naps and chips and salsa are my favorite pastimes. If I’m not doing any of the previous, I’m probably hiking a trail somewhere or playing my guitar worshiping. If you want to experience firsthand what a nerd I am, ask me about woodworking or anything to do with (but not limited to) building or music. My friends call me MacGyver because I can fix anything. I’m passionate about Troops Ministry and I want to empower and support our territory with all that I can. I’m a believer in getting our youth outside to experience our creator in amazing new ways. Join me!

Annabel do Santos

Youth Discipleship Coordinator

Annabel do Santos

I describe myself as an introvert with “FOMO” (Fear of Missing Out). That means that I thoroughly enjoy -and need- quiet time to be still and recharge on my own, but I love an opportunity to experience something new and make memories with others. My husband and our rescue dog fill my heart, I really enjoy quality time with the people I love, and I probably care too much about plants and good coffee. I follow Jesus, and I have worked in youth ministry for The Salvation Army for over 12 years in various corps and camps. God has challenged me through it but has never left my side. My favorite thing is seeing people succeed, so I’m excited to support leaders of all ages and levels of experience in my new position as Youth Discipleship Coordinator. I can help with all things Corps Cadets, Junior Soldiers, and Sunday school, and I want to help people feel empowered to use their gifts for the Kingdom!

Alayna Starkey

Administrative Assistant

Alayna Starkey

Hi everyone! My name is Alayna Starkey and I am the Administrative Assistant for the Youth Department. I have worked with youth of all ages in various parts of the Eastern Territory, but especially love camp ministry. After spending the last year and a half in Kentucky I’m happy to be back in the northeast! I am a fan of all Boston Sports teams (sorry New Yorkers), coffee, Disney everything, and would live my whole life on a beach if I could. I’m thrilled to be here and looking forward to being a part of the Youth Department!

Fabi Soto

Young Adult and Missions Ministry Coordinator

Fabi Soto

Hey everybody, my name is Fabi Soto and I am the Young Adult and Missions Ministry Coordinator. I love to hear about what God is doing in people’s lives and share my own testimony. My favorite color is blue and you will usually see me wearing it. I love to buy earrings, read good books and enjoy a quiet walk around my neighborhood. I have four cats that have taken over my photo album with their cuteness and have made me a cat person. When I think about Young Adults and Missions Ministry, I cling to Jeremiah 1:7 “But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.” Don’t be afraid to follow God’s leading in your life, it has led me to an adventure I would have never imagined for myself!

Our Mission

East Youth has a unique mission: to strive to inspire a generation of youth within The Salvation Army’s eastern territory to live for what matters most. We also strive to be a resource for the Eastern territory at the local level, with resources for all youth programs at the corps and divisional levels.

We are passionate about making a lasting impact on the spiritual journey of our youth. It is our hope that a new generation of leaders will be trained and inspired to serve the kingdom.
